PRESENTATION OF THE COMPANY
The client is delivering energy and connectivity services in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It seeks a Deputy Chief Financial Officer to help structure and streamline expansion in close coordination with CFO.
JOB ROLE SUMMURY
The role will support the CFO in his day-to-day activities where required and lead specific areas of the finance function as outlined by the CFO. The candidate should be a self-starter who is outcome driven and well organized in managing his daily tasks and group needs as set out by the CFO.
The candidate will be directly responsible for the entire financial planning and analysis (FP&A) process and will be a key liaison to the Strategic Finance team (capital management). The position will work to facilitate strategic planning through preparation of financial forecasts based on the client’s business strategy, overall management, co-ordination and preparation of the annual budget, and periodic revised forecasts and performance management through analysis, review and preparation of periodic financial reports.
The role requires a commercially astute individual with strong planning and analysis skills, able to look beyond the numbers and understand the wider business context that results in effective business partnering. The candidate will enhance core systems and processes, and interface with key external stakeholders, whilst maintaining a calm temperament and display strong levels of professionalism and experience in dealing with both internal and external parties.
KEYS RESPONSABILITIES
Assist in the streamlining and the preparation of all financial reporting for Executive Team, Board of Directors, and Senior Management.
Strengthen and monitor the forecasting, budgeting and covenant monitoring
Preparation of rolling forecasts by taking the ideas and strategy and translating them into meaningful financial information such as profitability, balance sheet growth, growth impacts, capital and funding requirements.
Lead the group’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation process ensuring execution from start to finish on time and on budget.
Preparation of key macro and micro assumptions for input into the planning and budgeting process.
Overall management, co-ordination and preparation of the annual business plan, capital expenditure, operating budget and periodic revised forecasts
Develop performance benchmarks for business units and monitor performance against these.
Drive the required business analysis and related process for making recommendations for new or improving performance opportunities.
Discuss, plan, and monitor interventions to keep the business units on budget
Provide detailed monthly performance statements and analysis for business units, and as a whole.
Investigation of variances and recommending remedial measures where necessary
Identify areas of performance shortfall and propose corrective interventions to management team.
Preparation of finance’s input for BOD papers detailing and analyzing actual performance against budget
Market share and competitive analysis
Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization
A strong focus on strengthening and managing treasury and cash management
Work to manage communications with Board and non-Board investors
PROFIL DU CANDIDAT
KEYS REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must have :
Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ACA, CPA)
Background in Big 4 public accounting or equivalent experience
Demonstrated experience using and enhancing cloud-based accounting and ERP systems (e.g. Xero, Navision, NetSuite, Acumatica)
Experienced with the ERP implementation process
Demonstrated experience using (and preferably evangelizing) cloud-based productivity tools (i.e. G-Suite)
Demonstrated willingness to manage high level structural elements coupled with world class skills in mentorship and team-building
Native written and spoken fluency in English
Professional written and spoken fluency in French
Comfort working and living in emerging market contexts
Demonstrated experience leading and managing multi-cultural teams and stakeholder groups
8+ years of experience with at least 3 years in a senior financial position
Previous financial modelling and data mining experience
Ability to analyze and evaluate data for acceptability and correctness.
Analytical mind with strong orientation to financial analysis.
Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with stakeholders
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and ability to work as part of a team.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including sound presentational skills
Flexibility in resolving issues and addressing changing priorities.
